Life is busy. That’s what Millie Shores believes makes a business like hers fit so well into our current culture. While the stresses of work and life have pulled many of us through a fast food drive-thru at the end of the day, Shores wants to bring people back to the dinner table.

Millie’s Table, winner of the Edmond Chamber Small Business of the Year, offers a host of services: home-cooked meals ready for pick-up at the end of a hectic day, grab-n-go lunches, catering and even freezer meals that allow customers to pop a meal into the oven at their own convenience.

“There are two ways to get meals,” Shores explains. “One, you can just walk into my store and see what we have available from our grab-n-go freezer. The other option is to go online to view our menu, and then call and place an order. That way if we need to customize the meal we can. We do ask for at least 48 hours notice on those orders.”

Shores’ menu covers all the bases, from appetizers like the pecan praline baked Brie, to vegetable sides such as apricot glazed carrots. She also offers breads, desserts and several options for potato sides.

As for entrees, customer favorites include the bacon cheddar meatloaf, chicken green chili enchilada bake, and king ranch chicken (Millie’s personal favorite).

“Millie’s Table also offers complete Thanksgiving Meals, a great way to have the wonderful smells of Thanksgiving without the hassle of shopping and making it,” says Shores. “These meals are ready to put in the oven, or we can even cook your dinner on Thanksgiving Day.”

But it doesn’t end there. Millie’s Table also offers catering services for groups with as little as five people, or up to 150.

“Typically we do corporate board meetings, parties, open houses, things like that,” Shores says. “We offer buffet-style catering. We can do most any thing from our selection of entrees that we offer from the store, and we have a few others that we do just for catering. Because we already cater several board meetings each month, we like to have at least a month’s notice or longer for events like that.”

Millie’s Table also offers “Hot Meals To-Go,” lunch or dinner, which allows customers to call a couple of hours ahead and choose (from a select list) an entree, vegetable and starch to pick up that day.

For customers who need a healthy or gluten-free option, Millie has those, too. Delicious chicken and white bean chili and Asian salmon are among the Healthy Selections the store offers, guaranteeing each meal contains no more than three grams of fat for every 100 calories. There are also over a dozen gluten-free options, such as buffalo chicken enchiladas and Greek pork kabobs.

“Millie’s Table was very honored to have won the Edmond Chamber’s Small Business of the Year in 2013 and the Edmond Rotary Club 4-Way Award,” Shores says. “We’ve also been named Edmond’s Favorite in Catering several times.”

When asked what Millie’s Table brings to the metro and surrounding areas, Millie says, “You know, people just are so busy these days. Having another option for family meals other than going through the drive-thru is something I believe people are looking for.”

And Millie’s Table has just that.
